No less than 18 individuals were harmed Saturday evening when a lift at a shopping center of Hong Kong's Langham Place abruptly switched bearing and expanded speed.

Video film of the occurrence demonstrated the 45m-long elevator between the fourth and eighth floors of Langham Place moving upwards, before all of a sudden going in reverse, rattling customers.

As per Apple Daily, 14 ladies and four men were harmed, with one of the men maintaining head wounds. Those hurt were sent to Kwong Wah Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

A few ambulances hurried to the scene and took the harmed to adjacent doctor's facilities.

A man who endured a head harm was in genuine condition, as per police. A representative of the shopping center in clamoring Mong Kok and an executive of the shopping center's property administration organization said the elevator has been in administration for a considerable length of time with a fine record of operation. The temporary worker for keeping up the lift, the Otis Elevator Company, has been solicited to research the cause from the mischance.
