The Cabinet meeting reportedly called for Sunday afternoon has been uncertain.
While it was earlier said the meeting has been called for 3 pm on Sunday to endorse the new Constitution amendment bill, a senior member of the PM’s Secretariat said the meeting was not scheduled for today.
“The Cabinet meeting was not on the PM’s schedule today,” PM’s press advisor Govinda Acharya told THT Online over phone, “Tomorrow’s schedule will be published tomorrow only.”
“The reports about the meeting called for today are just rumours,” he said.
The meeting has not taken place since March 16 owing to the dispute between two deputy prime ministers–Bimalendra Nidhi and Kamal Thapa–on who should hold the senior-most position after Dahal in the jumbo Cabinet.
Decisions on various significant issues including the appointment of the Inspector General of Nepal Police have been halted for the want of the meeting.
After induction of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Thapa in the coalition Cabinet on March 9, Nidhi of Nepali Congress and Thapa have been at odds on who is the second man in the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led Cabinet.
Keeping in view the tradition of holding the meeting of Council of Ministers on Thursdays and Mondays, the Cabinet should have met at least six times since March 16.
